Commitment to a Greener Gathering

For the second year, Culture Action Europe has obtained the SHIFT eco-certificate. The eco-guidelines provide a clear framework for effective climate action specific to cultural networks. The SHIFT Eco-Guidelines recognise and address the ecological footprint associated with operating international cultural networks and platform organisations. The guidelines serve as a reference document that aims to minimise their footprint, optimise environmentally sustainable practices, and act as an example of good practice for their members and other networks. They are purposely made openly accessible in the hope they can inspire structural organisational change in the cultural sectors, in the broadest sense. We’re making sustainability a priority and invite you to do the same:

Take the train whenever possible – especially for trips under 600km or under 5 hours.

Skip indirect flights – even if they are cheaper. If your destination is tricky to reach, try to connect by land instead of flying internally.

Avoid solo car travel – consider carpooling or alternative modes.

Give yourself more time to travel – sustainable options might take longer, but they’re worth it. If you can, stay a bit longer and combine your trip with other meetings or visits.

All catering is vegetarian – with vegan options available. No meat or fish is served.

We prioritise ethical food sourcing – favouring organic, fair trade, and local produce, ideally from community-based or small-scale providers.

Reduce waste – Avoid disposable tableware, bring a reusable tote for any purchases, and sort waste properly using Turin’s recycling system.

Save energy where you can – switch off devices when not in use and use venue Wi-Fi instead of mobile data.

Bring your own bottle and mug – tap water in Turin is clean and safe to drink, and there are refill stations throughout the city.

Thank you for contributing to a more environmentally responsible event!
